Turning the Heart of a Nation's Christians Back to GOD
Setting aside the references to scripture and the foundations and precepts established in the other pages on this site, I would like to add some understanding of what America was founded to be, and the attitudes of the founders who framed the constitution.

America was first and foremost “the land of the free”. Our constitution was written to protect the, “unalienable rights” that all men were endowed with by “their creator”. These rights are, The right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. However, around 100 years ago, the focus of government was changed, lead by good, well meaning Christian folk who saw evil rising and tried to stop it with worldly weapons. The result has been a cascade effect that has resulted in government attempting to restrict the right of all men to pursue happiness in their own way.

A quote some attribute to James Madison, and some say he didn't say, still says it best, “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind of self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”  Regardless of who spoke or first penned these words, they echo what our constitution states.

These men understood the value of freedom from religious oppression. They understood the value of the power of the gospel to sustain a nation. They understood the power of a trust in GOD that would overcome all evil.

This nation doesn't need laws to tell people how to act or to tell them who they should like or not like. We don't need to impose ideals on people with regard to how they run their lives or their businesses.

We just need to let people live their lives the way they want to and enjoy the amazing freedom that our founding fathers placed into this nation.

We don't need laws to do this, we just need leadership.
